Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Jackson Pollock: A Celebration in Music
This concert was a special collaboration with The Village Trip at the Salmagundi Club on Fifth Avenue and 12th Street in Manhattan! The program featured the Dolce Suono Trio performing Jennifer Higdon’s American Canvas, Victoria Bond’s “Dancing Colors” from her string quartet Blue and Green Music based on a painting by Georgia O’Keeffe, and Ned Rorem’s Trio. Composer and pianist John Musto accompanied soprano Amy Burton in an aria from his opera Later the Same Evening about Edward Hopper. Composer Roger Trefousse discussed his film score to the PBS documentary about Jackson Pollock, which was screened at the end of the concert.
October 9: Two Arias from the opera Mrs. President by Victoria Bond and Four Strings Around the World featuring violinist Irina Muresanu
This extraordinary concert featured two arias from Victoria Bond’s timely opera Mrs. President performed by soprano Amy Justman and pianist Mila Henry. Following this, violinist Irina Muresanu presented an innovative multi-media presentation entitled Four Strings Around the World, featuring music by composers Violeta Dinescu, Shirish Korda, Mark O’Connor, and others. This concert was held at Symphony Space.
